Team Maroon Takes Scrimmage in Volleyball's Return to Reed

Volleyball is back in Reed Arena! Texas A&M held its annual Maroon & White Scrimmage on Tuesday evening in front of the 12th Man in the Aggies' lone home action before the season opener on Aug. 21 in Milwaukee.

On the court it was the Maroon team who came out on top, rallying for a 3-1 win over the White team.

Next up? An exhibition match in Waco against 21st-ranked Baylor. First serve at the Ferrell Center is at 6 p.m. on Sunday and admission is free. In a fun scheduling twist, Aggie soccer will play Baylor at 7:30 p.m. that same evening--right across the parking lot.

Hear from Jamie Morrison and liberos Addi Applegate and Gabi Rodriguez following the scrimmage below.

I thought we started off...it kind of felt, not robotic, but jerky was the word that I used. And I think it got smooth. We started competing by the fourth set, and I just said the next time we put on that uniform we need to start where we left off and just keep going with that as time goes on.

Obviously we have a lot of new girls this year, but I think we're meshing really well. Everyone is just working hard, wanting to get better every day in the gym, and as you saw today, transferring that on the court.
