AUGUSTA, Ga. – Texas A&M punter Tyler White was named to the Ray Guy Award Preseason Watch List, the Augusta Sports Council announced Friday. The award annually honors the nation's top collegiate punter.
White punted 50 times for 2,213 yards, averaging 44.3 yards per punt in 2025. He downed 19 punts inside the opponent's 20-yard line with two touchbacks and had 16 punts of 50-plus yards. White registered a season-long 63-yard punt against Auburn and logged a season-best three punts of 50-plus yards against Florida. The Southlake, Texas, native was one of five punters in the SEC with at least 15 punts of 50-plus yards and at least 15 punts downed inside the 20. White was named to the Ray Guy Award's "Ray's 8" three times last season.
The redshirt junior has appeared in 26 career games and has punted 96 times for 4,277 yards, averaging 44.6 yards per punt. He has downed 44 punts inside the opponent's 20-yard line, while 28 have traveled 50-plus yards. White boasts a career-long 69-yard punt against Texas in 2024 and finished the season as a Ray Guy Award semifinalist.
A national body of Football Bowl Subdivision sports information directors, media representatives, and previous Ray Guy Award winners will vote for the top three finalists to be announced in late November. After the finalists are named, the voting body will cast ballots again to select the nation’s top punter. The winner will be announced live during The Home Depot College Football Awards airing on ESPN in December.

The Augusta Sports Council created the Ray Guy Award in 2000 to honor Thomson, Georgia native and College and Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee, Ray Guy. Among the statistics used to identify the winner are net punting average, percentage of punts inside the 20-yard line, and percentage of punts not returned, with particular emphasis placed on net average. The winner must display team leadership, self-discipline, and have a positive impact on the team's success.
