WACO – The Texas A&M soccer team continues its season-opening, three-game trip through the Lone Star State when they travel to Betty Lou Mays Field for Sunday’s 7:30 contest against the Baylor Bears.
Following Texas A&M’s 2-1 win over Rice in the opener, the Maroon & White are looking to start the season 2-0 for the first time since 2018. Trinity Buchanan recorded her second career brace in A&M’s victory against the Owls.
The new-look Aggies had nine freshmen play in the season opener, including five in the starting lineup. The rookie starters included Makenna August, Ireland Churchill, Blake Hughes, Finley Lacher and Ava Sexton. The freshmen accounted for 444 of the 990 minutes played in the opener.

The Aggies own a 14-5-4 edge in the all-time series. The teams have met four times since Texas A&M moved to the greener pastures of the SEC with Baylor owning a 1-0-3 edge. Last year the teams opened the season with a 1-1 draw. The Aggies struck first in the fourth minute when Leah Diaz finished a cross from Kaylee Noble, set up by a long throw-in from Mia Scranton. The Bears tied the match in the 81st minute. Texas A&M held an 18-16 edge in total shots with both teams recording five shots-on-goal.
Baylor is riding high after toppling No. 10 Arkansas, 4-1, Wednesday in Fayetteville. The Bears scored on a penalty kick in the 16th minute. They added three goals in an 11-minute span midway through the second half.
