WACO – The Texas A&M soccer team came out on the wrong end of a 2-1 decision against the Baylor Bears Sunday evening at Betty Lou Mays Field.
After falling behind 2-0 midway through the first stanza, the Aggies pulled one back with 46 seconds left in the first half. The Maroon & White continued to menace in the second half but were unable to pull even.
Finley Lacher scored her first career goal in the 45th minute. Riley Crooks came off the backline to probe the Baylor midfield, charging on the dribble from the defensive side of the center stripe to 20 yards. She slipped a cross to Lacher who used her second touch to drill a side inside the left post.
Baylor owned a 19-7 shot advantage, including 7-2 in shots-on-goal, but freshman goalkeeper Makenna August made five saves to keep the Maroon & White in striking distance.
