COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M wide receiver Mario Craver and quarterback Marcel Reed have been named to the watch list for the 2026 Walter Camp Award, the Walter Camp Football Foundation announced Monday. Reed was a semifinalist for the 2025 award.
The Walter Camp Player of the Year, the fourth-oldest college football award in the nation, is presented annually to the most outstanding player in college football, as voted on by 136 Football Bowl Subdivision head coaches and sports information directors.
Craver, a junior from Birmingham, Alabama, returns for his second season in Aggieland after being named a 2025 Biletnikoff Award semifinalist and earning All-SEC Third Team honors. Last season, Craver registered 917 yards on 59 receptions with four touchdowns, while also rushing for 81 yards on 11 attempts with a score. He notched three 100-plus-yard receiving games, including a 207-yard performance in the win at Notre Dame. Following SEC Media Days, Craver was named to the Media Preseason All-SEC First Team as an all-purpose player and earned second-team honors as a wide receiver.
In 21 career games, including 12 starts, Craver has totaled 76 receptions for 1,285 yards and seven touchdowns, while adding 88 yards rushing on 14 carries and one touchdown.
Reed, who was named a team captain for the 2026 season, enters his redshirt junior campaign having thrown for 5,407 yards with 41 career passing touchdowns. He has completed 62% of his passes and is averaging 200.3 passing yards per game throughout his career. On the ground, Reed has amassed 1,085 career rushing yards to go along with 14 touchdowns, averaging 40.2 rushing yards per game.
He enters the 2026 season as one of eight returning FBS quarterbacks to have amassed at least 5,000 career passing yards and 1,000 rushing yards. Reed is also one of just nine returning FBS quarterbacks to have thrown for more than 40 touchdowns and rushed for at least 14 touchdowns.
In 27 career games, including 21 starts, Reed has recorded 300-plus yards of total offense nine times, including a career-high 452 yards against South Carolina last season. He has accounted for multiple touchdowns in 17 games, including a career-best four scores in five different games. Reed has thrown for at least two touchdowns in 15 of his 27 career games, including a career-high four against UTSA in 2025. His career high for rushing touchdowns in a game is three, which he accomplished against LSU in 2024. He has eclipsed the 300-yard passing mark three times in his career and surpassed 400 yards once, throwing for a career-best 439 yards against South Carolina in 2025.
