Soccer Welcomes Finland Standout to Aggieland

COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M soccer team added elite international experience to its midfield with the signing of Finnish standout Venla Lindfors for the 2026 campaign, head coach Bobby Shuttleworth announced Monday.

“We are incredibly excited to welcome Venla to Texas A&M soccer,” Shuttleworth said. “Her international experience and maturity will be tremendous assets to our program.”

Before arriving in College Station, Lindfors starred for multiple clubs across Europe. She played for Sweden's Lidköpings FK in the Elitettan league from 2022-24, where her relentless work rate earned her the club's Player of the Year honors in 2024.

Her standout play caught the attention of Dutch top-flight side Fortuna Sittard, where she signed in late 2024 and twice claimed Eredivisie Talent of the Month honors.

“Venla is an excellent technical player with a natural feel for the game, outstanding passing ability and the vision to connect play and create opportunities,” Shuttleworth said. “We are excited to see the impact she will make on our team and look forward to her continued growth as an Aggie.”

Lindfors brings a wealth of international experience. She has represented the Football Association of Finland at every major youth level, most recently anchoring the midfield for the U23 national team.
