Morrison, Aggies Preview AVCA First Serve

With the start of the season two days away, head coach Jamie Morrison and several players met with the media Wednesday at Reed Arena to preview this weekend's AVCA First Serve.

The defending national champions will face No. 7 Louisville, a rematch of last year's Sweet 16 classic, in the season opener on Friday (5 p.m., ESPN2).

Watch below:

I think it's twofold...the way we play the game is going to be different, the way we win matches, the way we put pressure, it'll look different than the past. And then I think the second one is just the way we compete. How are we going to show up on the floor? Who are we going to be? How are we going to act? How are we going to get people's faces, like all of those things? It's them figuring out what that looks like, feels like, sounds like, together.

-- Jamie Morrison on the 2026 team writing its own story

We're just moving on to the next chapter. It's an entirely new team. Each person is different and it's just writing our own story and finding new ways that we're going to play. We're not going to have the same strengths and weaknesses as last year and it's just going to be completely different and really cool this year.

-- Kirra Musgrove on this being a new team

I think our exhibition match really just showed the way that we compete, and that's what I was really excited about. We played well, obviously, and a lot of volleyball things went well and we have things to improve on. But I think the thing I was most excited about was just the way that we competed and just showed who we were as a team. That's really exciting that we're going to be able to build on that.

-- Natalie Ring on what she learned in the Baylor match

Everyone says it...the people are great. And I feel like any way I could answer that always reflects back to that, always comes back to the people. And, how well-rounded every aspect of the program is. It was a really chaotic and hectic experience going into the portal, but it just made so much sense as soon as I started talking to them. They're genuinely good people and that shines through off the bat. It's not hard to see that at all. They're very loving, and I could tell immediately that they would have my back from the start.
