The Aggies open the home slate Saturday with an 8 p.m. match against Sam Houston at Ellis Field. SAN MARCOS – The Texas A&M soccer team lost a 3-2 battle against Texas State Wednesday evening at Bobcat Soccer Complex.
Trinity Buchanan needed just 40 seconds to break the scoring seal. She scored her team-leading third goal of the season with an assist from Ava Sexton. It was the fifth quickest goal in Texas A&M history.
Ireland Chuchill scored her first career goal in the 55th minute to put the Maroon & White up 2-1, but the Bobcats scored two goals in the final 12 minutes to pull out the victory.
The match was a 1-1 stalemate at the intermission, despite the Aggies owning an 8-4 edge in shots. Churchill appeared to score in the 21st minute, but the offside flag was up. The Texas A&M staff called for a video review, but unfortunately only one camera in the facility, at the center stripe, was able to capture the play.
Coming out of the lengthy review and a water break, Texas State notched an equalizer with a long-distance free kick assist.
For the match, the Aggies had a 17-11 edge in shots, but Texas State owned an 8-5 edge in shots-on-goal and 4-2 in corner kicks.
