- SEC draws a hard line on pros returning: After a Monday evening video conference of the SEC’s presidents and chancellors, the conference issued the following statement, in part: “College athletes, not former professional athletes, have been at the heart of the Southeastern Conference. Individuals who choose to leave college athletics, sign professional playing contracts, and compete professionally should not then be permitted to return to college competition.” Full Statement

FOOTBALL: Reed Stacks Up Another Watch List
Marcel Reed keeps collecting preseason honors. The senior quarterback and team captain landed on the 2026 Manning Award watch list, his fifth preseason nod, joining the Maxwell, Walter Camp and Johnny Unitas Golden Arm lists. A Manning finalist a year ago, Reed enters the season with 5,407 career passing yards, 41 touchdown throws, and 1,085 yards on the ground. Link
AROUND THE SEC: SEC Shorts Is Back: ‘Who’s on My Team Now?’
SEC Shorts opened its 2026 season Monday with “Who’s on My Team Now?”, a game-show sketch about trying to recognize your own roster in the portal era. A good Tuesday laugh. Watch

No. 8 volleyball is home Friday to raise the 2025 national-championship banner and open the Texas A&M Invitational at Reed, hosting Grand Canyon (11 a.m.) and Arkansas State (7:30 p.m., banner drop at the nightcap). FOOTBALL: Juniors, Pull Your Opener Tickets Today
The student ticket pull for the Missouri State opener reaches juniors today, 8 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. Pull as a group of up to 10 through your 12th Man Foundation account. Sophomores are up Wednesday, freshmen Thursday, and single-game student tickets go on sale Friday. Link
