TYLER, Texas – Texas A&M wide receiver Terry Bussey, running back Rueben Owens II and quarterback Marcel Reed were named to the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Preseason Watch List, SPORTyler and the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award selection committee announced Tuesday.
Bussey, a junior from Timpson, Texas, secured his status as one of the league's most respected kick returners, logging 421 yards on 18 returns for an average of 23.4 yards per return. His 421 kick return yards ranked third in the SEC in 2025. He fielded seven punts for 62 yards, including a 29-yard return in the season opener against UTSA. On the offensive side, Bussey caught 18 passes for 195 yards and one touchdown.
Owens II led the Aggies with 639 rushing yards on 119 carries and five touchdowns in 2025, while adding 130 receiving yards on 13 receptions. The El Campo, Texas, native made five starts, all against SEC opponents, and recorded two 100-plus yard rushing performances with 142 yards against Mississippi State and 102 yards against Missouri.
Reed started all 13 games and completed 234-of-377 passes for 3,169 yards and 25 touchdowns, adding 493 rushing yards and six touchdowns on 104 carries. He compiled 3,662 total offensive yards and accounted for 36 touchdowns. The Nashville, Tennessee, native threw for 200-plus yards in 10 games, including a career-high 439 yards against South Carolina, and posted a season-best 108 rushing yards against LSU. Reed also recorded 11 completions of 40-plus yards, including an 86-yard touchdown pass to Mario Craver at Notre Dame.
He enters the 2026 season as one of eight returning FBS quarterbacks to amass 5,000+ career passing yards and 1,000+ rushing yards. Reed is also in elite company as one of just nine returning QBs at the FBS level to have passed for over 40 touchdowns while also rushing for more than 14 touchdowns.
The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award recognizes the top offensive player in Division I football who also exhibits the enduring characteristics that define Earl Campbell: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community and tenacity; specifically, tenacity to persist and determination to overcome adversity and injury in pursuit of reaching goals. In addition, the nominee must meet one or more of the following criteria: born in Texas and/or graduated from a Texas High School and/or played at a Texas-based junior college or four-year college.
