Borovilos, Fernández García-Poggio Named to ANNIKA Award Preseason Watch List

COLUMBUS, Ga. – Texas A&M’s Vanessa Borovilos and Cayetana Fernández García-Poggio were named to the ANNIKA Award Preseason Watch List, the Haskins Foundation announced Thursday.

This marks the second-consecutive season that the duo has been selected to the preseason watch list. Last year, Borovilos became the first Aggie named an ANNIKA Award Finalist, cementing her status as one of the game’s top-10 golfers during the 2025-26 campaign.

Borovilos is ranked No. 19 on the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) and was a 2026 WGCA First Team All-American. The junior from Canada posted a 71.06 stroke average, which was the second best in program history, and had two individual wins last season.

Fernández García-Poggio finds her way onto the preseason watch list for the third time in her career. She has a WAGR ranking of No. 30 and is a two-time All-American. The Spaniard has a 7-2-1 overall collegiate match play record, including a 5-0 record at the SEC Championship.

The ANNIKA Award is annually given to the top female Division I collegiate golfer; the winner voted on by players, coaches and members of the college golf media. Named for Annika Sorenstam, the award was created in partnership with the Haskins Foundation to acknowledge the top female golfer.

Texas A&M begins the season at the Folds of Honor Collegiate Sept. 7-9 in Grand Haven, Michigan. The Aggies won the event last year and look to defend the title to usher in the 2026-27 campaign.
