COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M football’s Marcel Reed and Mario Craver have been named to the watch list for the 2026 Maxwell Award, the Maxwell Football Club announced on Monday. The Maxwell Award is given annually to the most outstanding player in college football.
Reed, who was named a team captain for the 2026 season, enters his redshirt junior campaign having thrown for 5,407 yards with 41 career passing touchdowns. He has completed 62% of his passes and is averaging 200.3 yards per game through the air. On the ground, Reed has 1,085 career rushing yards to go along with 14 scores. He has averaged 40.2 yards per game on the ground throughout his career.
In 27 career games, 21 starts, Reed has recorded 300+ yards of total offense nine times, including a career-high 452 yards against South Carolina last season. He has accounted for multiple touchdowns in 17 games. Including a career-best four scores in five different games. He has thrown for at least two touchdowns in 15 of his 27 career games, with a career-high four against UTSA in 2025. His career mark for rushing scores in a game is three, which he did against LSU in 2024. He has eclipsed the 300-yard passing mark three times in his career and has surpassed 400 yards once, when he threw for a career-best 439 yards against South Carolina in 2025.
Craver, a junior from Birmingham, Ala., returns for his second season in Aggieland after being named a 2025 Biletnikoff Award Semifinalist and earning a selection to the All-SEC Third Team. Last season, Craver registered 917 yards on 59 receptions with four touchdowns, while also rushing for 81 yards on 11 attempts with a score. He notched three 100-plus-yard receiving games, including a 207-yard performance in the win at Notre Dame. Following SEC Media Days, Craver was named to the Media Preseason All-SEC First Team as an all-purpose player and earned second team honors as a wide receiver.
