NASSAU, Bahamas – The Texas A&M men’s basketball team dominated from start to finish, topping the Toros del Valle, a professional team from Colombia, 141-61, Tuesday evening in their second game at the Baha Mar Hoops Summer League at the Baha Mar Resort.
Mackenzie Mgbako and Tyshawn Archie led six Aggies in double figures as Mgbako neared a double-double with 23 points and nine rebounds in just 13 minutes of action, while Archie added 21 points, four assists and three steals. Texas A&M owned the paint, winning the battle on the boards, 58-20, and outscoring the Toros 44-20 in the paint.
The Aggies jumped out to an early lead, scoring nine of the first 11 points of the game. They used a 15-2 run around the midway point in the half to extend the lead to 22, going up 37-15. They led by as many as 33 points in the opening period and took a 68-35 lead into the break.
Texas A&M quickly got the difference over 40 in the opening minutes of the new half and never looked back, doubling the lead by the game’s end.
The Aggies close out play in the Bahamas facing Carleton University Wednesday at 11 a.m. The game will be streamed on FloSports.com, while live stats are available here.
