Aggie Epic Back-Half Leads Women to Second, Men Finish

  • Texas A&M women made up a total of 91 positions in the second half of the race.
  • Gavin Chapa was the top finisher for the men earning eighth in 24:25.3.
  • Alexandra Fox finished ninth in a time of 17:35.1 after gaining 34 positions in the second half.

COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M Invitational was highlighted by strong back-half performances, with the women climbing from fifth to second and the men moving up to fifth despite fielding just five runners at Watts Cross Country Course Friday morning.

The Aggies secured two combined top 10 finishes with Gavin Chapa finishing eighth with a time of 24:25.3 in the 8k, and Alexandra Fox finishing ninth in a time of 17:35.1 in the 5k. In the team results the women finished second scoring 81 points and the men finished fifth with 129 points. 

On the men’s side, Chapa was followed by the remaining four Aggies: Hunter Jackson in 11th (24:34.6), Noah Willows in 34th (25:32.6), Zack Munger in 40th (25:43.7) and Aiden Gonzalez-Rodiles in 42nd (25:48.9). 

On the women’s side, Fox was joined by Megan Roberts finishing 11th (17:37.4), Laney Barnes in 16th (17:57.1), Sophia Bendet in 23rd (18:08.9) and Emma Little in 26th (18:12.0).

UP NEXT
The Aggies have two weeks before travelling to Princeton, N.J. for the Princeton Meadows Challenge Sep 26. The meet will begin at 8:30 a.m.
