COLLEGE STATION – The No. 15 Texas A&M volleyball team gears up for a midweek matchup with SFA Tuesday evening at reed Arena with first serve slated for 6 p.m.
The Aggies open their fifth week of competition at home and are coming off a hard-fought pair of matches versus top 10 opponents. A&M split the week, downing then-No. 4 Stanford in four sets, before dropping a five-set battle to then-No. 6 Wisconsin. The contests versus the Badgers was at Reed Arena and the 12th Man showed up to deliver the third-highest attendance in program history of 9,211.
Tuesday’s matchup marks the 19th meeting between A&M and SFA, with the Aggies holding an undefeated 18-0 record in the all-time series. The Maroon & White are 4-0 when hosting the Ladyjacks, with their most recent trip to Aggieland coming back in 1999 and resulted in a 3-0 sweep.
Kaia Castle was the Maroon & White’s standout offensively last week, recording 26 kills on 43 swings with no errors to hit at a staggering .609 percent. The junior’s career night came against Wisconsin where she logged highs for points (22), kills (19) and hitting percentage (.576).
On the defensive side, Gabi Rodriguez added a career-best 20 digs, surpassing 100 digs for her career, and became the fastest Aggie freshman to hit the milestone in the rally-scoring era. Eliza sharp was the force at the net, stuffing five swings for her fifth match this season with five-or-more blocks.
