No. 15 Volleyball Sweeps SFA for Fifth Win, 3-0

COLLEGE STATION – The No. 15 Texas A&M volleyball team got back in the win column after sweeping SFA Tuesday evening at Reed Arena, 3-0 (25-13, 25-9, 25-22).

The Aggies (5-5) got back to 500 on the year following a dominant showing versus SFA (4-6), where they outscored the Ladyjacks by 31 points across three the three sets of action, 75-44. Kirra Musgrove continued to shine at the setter position, conducting the Aggie offense to an efficient night hitting .307 as a unit. The sophomore logged 35 assists, a career-high five blocks, four kills and a pair of aces.

The Ladyjacks were the aggressors out of the gate, ripping off a 6-2 advantage to start the game. The Aggies came roaring back on a 5-0 run propelled by Kaia Castle, who was responsible for tallying four of the five points in the stretch. SFA kept it close early in the set, but the Maroon & White put their foot on the gas and pulled away to take the opening frame by double-digits, 25-13.

Texas A&M kept its momentum in the second courtesy of a strong showing at the service line, as the Aggies logged five aces spread across four players and paced by Musgrove’s two which were back-to-back, 15-5. Natalie Ring ensured the set, recording five of her seven kills in the Maron & White’s final six points, including three-straight to seal the frame, 25-9.

SFA responded in the third, knotting the game on eight occasions as the teams found level at 18. The Ladyjacks applied pressure, taking a two-point advantage in the red zone, 21-19. Head Coach Jamie Morrison needed an answer from the Aggies and got that through a pair of kills to knot the game at 21, followed by a trio of SFA errors and a final dagger from Amaré Hernandez who struck her career-high seventh kill to take the set, 25-22, and match, 3-0.
