TULSA, Okla. – The Texas A&M men’s tennis team opens its fall schedule at the ITA All-American Championships held at the Case Tennis Center in LaFortune Park, September 19-27.
The Aggies send seven men to the All-American Championships, with three players starting in the main draw, two in the qualifying rounds and two opening in pre-qualifying, the group also has one team in the qualifying doubles. Theo Papamalamis highlights the A&M trio in the singles main draw, as he was ranked at No. 8 in the ITA Preseason Poll, while newcomer Hamza Nasridinov and returner Alex Frusina join him ranked No. 15 and No. 57, respectively.
Newcomer Ilia Snitari makes his debut as an Aggie in the singles qualifying draw, while returners Kriish Tyagi and Lathan Skrobarcek open their campaigns in pre-qualifying. The Maroon & White’s lone doubles team of Frusina and Markus Molder are slated for the qualifying draw.
The ITA All-American Championships provide a pathway to the NCAA Championships, with 10 singles players and five doubles teams earning NCAA individual qualification. Eight singles spots go to the main draw quarterfinalists, with two more awarded to the consolation finalists, while four doubles spots go to the semifinalists and one to the consolation champion.
