OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. – Texas A&M men's golf was one of nine teams to complete the first and second rounds of the Fighting Illini Invitational before the second round was suspended due to darkness. After 36 holes, the Aggies sit in eighth at 14-under par. The remainder of the second round is set to resume at 7:30 a.m. CT on Saturday, with third-round tee times starting at 10 a.m. CT.
The Aggies opened with a 6-under 274 before improving to an 8-under 272 in the second round on the par-70, 7,215-yard Olympia Fields Country Club South Course. Illinois leads at 26-under 534, with Texas Tech one stroke back at 25-under 535. A&M is one stroke behind Pepperdine, which is 15-under with players still on the course, and one ahead of Florida and UNLV, tied at 13-under.
Shiv Parmar and Wheaton Ennis lead the Aggies through two rounds, tied for 13th at 5-under 135. Parmar opened with a 3-under 67 that included eagles on the par-4 11th and par-5 18th, then added a 2-under 68. Ennis followed his opening 68 with a 3-under 67, making four birdies in the second round, including one on the closing hole.
Aaron Pounds is tied for 22nd at 4-under 136 after rounds of 69 and 67. He eagled the 350-yard, par-4 11th in the second round, the third Aggie eagle of the day.
Kris Kuvaas shot even-par 70 in both rounds and sits tied for 58th at even par. Landon Ashcraft rounds out the lineup at 2-over 142, tied for 70th, improving two strokes from a 72 in round one to a 70 in round two.
Texas A&M has completed its second round and will find out Saturday morning who they will be paired with for the final round.
