No. 16 Volleyball Closes Non-Conference Slate Versus Rice

• 16 Texas A&M closes its non-conference slate hosting Rice Tuesday evening at Reed Arena with first serve set for 6 p.m.
• The Aggies are coming off their second ranked win of the season after downing then-No. 20 Creighton, 3-1, last time out.
• The Maroon & White look to claim their 16^th-straight win versus the Owls.

COLLEGE STATION – The No. 16 Texas A&M volleyball team concludes its non-conference schedule at home as it hosts Rice Tuesday evening at Reed Arena with first serve set for 6 p.m.

The Aggies return home after claiming their second ranked win of the season, as they downed then-No. 20 Creighton in four sets behind a standout showing from Kyndal Stowers. The senior logged a game-high 21 kills and tacked on 15 digs defensively to secure her fourth double-double of the season. Natalie Ring and Kaia Castle also chipped in offensively, logging 12 and 10 kills, respectively, in the contest.

 

Texas A&M welcomes Rice to Aggieland to wrap its non-conference slate. The Owls are a familiar foe, as the programs have squared off 41 times in their history. The Maron & White boast a dominant 37-4 advantage in the all-time series and have won the last 15 faceoffs.

The teams have squared off 16 times in College Station and the record stands at 15-1. Rice earned its lone road win in 1986, notching a five-set victory. The Aggies and Owls faced off last season in Houston, and it was A&M who claimed a decisive 3-0 sweep, winning the point advantage 75-47.

A&M’s highly touted freshmen class continues to impress early in the season, highlighted by standout Gabi Rodriguez. The libero is coming another strong outing, registering 16 digs which extended her double-digit streak to nine games, while dishing a career-high six assists. Lolufe Adedeji made an impact versus the Bluejays after filling in for an injured Aggie, the middle blocker had six kills and a block in the four-set win including dealing the final blow to seal the match.
