WOLCOTT, Colo. – The No. 4 Texas A&M women’s golf team remained in third after the second round of the Golfweek Red Sky Classic Tuesday and were led by Cayetana Fernández García-Poggio who fired a 4-under 68 at the Red Sky Golf Club.
The Aggies posted a 36-hole score of 17-under 559, which was the fourth lowest in program history. They were one shot back of Miami (-18) and 16 back of No. 2 USC (-33) for the lead.
Fernández García-Poggio started the day with three-straight birdies on Nos. 2, 3 and 4. The senior totaled seven birdies during the round and posted her lowest 18 holes of the season. The All-American moved into a share of 15th.
Sky Sudberry fired a 2-under 70 and was tied for 20th, while Vanessa Borovilos and Louise Reau were knotted up at 10th with team-low scores of 5-under 139 thru Tuesday’s action. Freshman Emerie Schartz rounded out the group tied for 48th.
The Aggies wrap up the Golfweek Red Sky Classic Wednesday with a 10:15 a.m. shotgun start. Live stats for the tournament can be followed at Golfstat.com.
