IRVING, Texas – Texas A&M football’s Wilkin Formby has been named a semifinalist for the 2026 William V. Campbell Trophy, the National Football Foundation (NFF) & College Hall of Fame announced on Wednesday.
The William V. Campbell Trophy is college football’s premier scholar-athlete award. Celebrating its 37th year, the Campbell Trophy® recognizes an individual as the absolute best football scholar-athlete in the nation for his combined academic success, football performance and exemplary leadership.
Formby, a native of Tuscaloosa, Ala., is one of 206 semifinalists for the award. He graduated from Alabama in December of 2025 with a degree in Human Environmental Sciences and is currently pursuing his master’s degree in Sport Management.
During his undergraduate studies, he was named to the SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll twice and to the First-Year SEC Academic Honor Roll his freshman season. In 2025, he was named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team as well.
From the moment he arrived in College Station in January of 2026, Formby wasted no time getting involved and giving back to the College Station community. Formby has participated in seven community service events, highlighted by working with AlphaBEST and ‘The Big Event’. AlphaBEST Education is an organization that provides before- and after-school programs for kids in 17 states. The Big Event is a one-day, student-run service project where Texas A&M students come together to say “Thank You” to the residents of Bryan and College Station and show their appreciation to the surrounding community by completing service projects such as yard work, window washing, and painting. Additionally, he was involved with NFL Flag and Bryan ISD Summer Camps.
A two-year letter winner, Formby has started 19 games on the offensive line and has played in 30 career games. He has appeared in the College Football Playoff and the ReliaQuest Bowl. He has won more than 20 games in his career and in 2025 helped an offense average 367.7 yards per game.
