TULSA, Okla. – The Texas A&M men’s tennis team booked a pair of spots in the ITA All-American Championships singles main draw round of 16 and one pair to the doubles quarterfinals, Thursday at the Case Tennis Center in LaFortune Park.
The day started in singles, and it was Theo Papamalamis who set the tone ensuring the first ticket to the round of 16. The No. 4 seed faced off against Ohio State’s Alex Okonkwo, winning in straight sets 6-4, 6-3. Hamza Nasridinov continued the Aggies’ momentum, downing Baylor’s Connor Henry Van Schalkwyk in two hard-fought sets 7-5, 7-6 (6).
In doubles, Alex Frusina and Markus Molder kept their tournament run alive, outlasting the No. 7 seed from Texas Lucas Marionneau and Gabriel Debru. The opening two frames were split, and a third-set super tiebreaker was the difference where A&M edged out a 15-13 victory to reach the quarterfinals.
