COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M soccer team was on the losing end of a 1-0 decision against No. 7 Alabama Thursday evening at Ellis Field.
Alabama (10-1-0, 3-0-0 SEC) pounced on a loose pass by the Aggies in the 44th minute and headed into the break with a 1-0 lead. The first half was a tug-of-war affair, with both teams enjoying spells of control. The Crimson Tide held a 10-7 advantage in shots and a 3-1 edge in shots on goal. Taylor Jernigan created the Aggies’ best chance of the half, but goalkeeper Madi Munguia expertly saved her attempt.
The final numbers had Alabama leading the shot category 14-12 and shots-on-goal 4-1. Texas A&M (4-6-0, 0-3-0 SEC) held large spells of possession in the second half but couldn’t produce anything in the final third.
The Aggie backline of Juliet Haras, Ava Sexton, Hattie Patterson and Holly Storer held Alabama well below its season averages offensively. The Crimson Tide entered the contest averaging 7.1 shots-on-goal and 2.3 goals per game.

44’ | Trinity Daudu Ihayere slotted a pass across the right side of the 18-yard box to Kennedy Garcia, who found Kiley Kukan on the right. Kukan finished into the bottom-left corner.

I think that was one of our better performances of the year. I thought we did a really good job of being connected and kept possession of the ball for long periods of time. Defensively, I thought we caused them a lot of problems that didn't really have a ton of chances. Other than the goal, I don't really have much recollection of them having really any opportunities or Addi having to make a save. Overall, happy with the performance, disappointed with the result.

Today I felt like we played more as a team. Obviously it's disappointing with the loss, but I feel like we had a lot of good chances and got the ball forward well and moved the ball, and I thought we played really well together.
