COLLEGE STATION – The No. 16 Texas A&M volleyball team opens conference play at home as it hosts South Carolina Sunday afternoon at Reed Arena with a first serve set for 2:30 p.m.
The Aggies concluded their non-conference slate last time out, sweeping Rice, 3-0, in a midweek matchup. Kyndal Stowers spearheaded A&M’s offense as she made it back-to-back matches with over 15 kills, tallying 17 on the night. As a unit the Maroon & White recorded a season high 54 kills in a three-set match.
Texas A&M’s sophomore class helped spark the win, with Megan Fitch, Taryn Morris, Kirra Musgrove, and Djurdja Stanojevic each making a respective impact. Fitch posted her second double-double of the season with 11 kills and 11 digs, while Morris also reached double figures posting 10 kills. Musgrove orchestrated the offense with 46 assists and Stanojevic made her presence felt at the net with a career-high five blocks.
In her first collegiate start, Lolufe Adedeji made the most of her time on the court, recording a career-high eight kills while hitting at .438 percent and adding a career-best four blocks. Gabi Rodriguez continued to anchor the back row with 14 digs, extending her streak of double-digit dig performances to 10-consecutive matches.
Sunday’s matchup marks the 23rd meeting between the Aggies and Gamecocks, with A&M holding a 19-3 advantage in the all-time series. The last time South Carolina made a trip to Aggieland, the Maroon & White took a 3-0 sweep. Under Head Coach Jamie Morrison, the Aggies are 2-1 in SEC openers at Reed Arena.
