COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M volleyball’s Gabi Rodriguez was named SEC Freshman of the Week following a pair of sweeps, the league announced Monday afternoon.
Rodriguez earns her first career SEC weekly award and becomes the Aggie to be named Freshman of the Week since Logan Lednicky in 2022.
In the opening game versus Rice, she continued to be a steady presence in the backrow for the Maroon & White recording her 10th-straight game with 10-or-more digs after finishing with 14. The McKinney, Texas, native added an ace and four assists to her outing.
Doubling down in her SEC debut against South Carolina, Rodriguez made it 11-consecutive contests over 10 digs concluding with 11 on the day. The freshman tacked on another five assists and recorded a good-pass percentage of 80% which topped both teams.
Rodriguez and the Aggies return to action this weekend where they host Alabama Friday at 6:30 p.m. and Mississippi State Sunday at 12 p.m. Fans can purchase tickets for both games here.
