
Softball America Tabs Dement and Perez to Preseason Top 100 List

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M's softball's KK Dement and Mya Perez have been named to Softball America's Preseason Top 100 List and Maddie Sauni was named to the Top 100 Freshman Watch List, the organization announced Monday.
Perez ranks No. 15 nationally while Dement comes in at No. 67 to sit among the top 100 collegiate softball players.
Perez returns after garnering All-America Second Team honors, NFCA All-Region Second Team and All-SEC First Team accolades after a breakthrough sophomore season. The Corona, California, native broke Texas A&M's 43-year-old program single season record with 73 RBI, batting a .424 and slugging a .804, the sixth best all-time in school history. Perez started all 59 games in the 2025 season, being the only Aggie to collect multiple SEC weekly honors, named as SEC Player of the Week on April 1 and SEC Co-Player of the Week on Feb. 24. Perez recorded a career-high four hits, with three doubles, the first Aggie to do so since 2014, in SEC play against No. 6 LSU. Perez ranked second in conference play in on-base percentage (.541), fifth in batting average (.393) and seventh in slugging percentage (.721). The Junior infielder also excelled off the field earning Academic All-America honors, becoming the fourth Aggie in program history and first since 2008.
Dement earned D1 Softball All-America Freshman First Team honors, NFCA Central All-Region First Team and SEC All-Tournament Team accolades last season. In 58 games started she set A&M's freshman records with 18 doubles and 64 RBI, ranking fourth-most all-time in program history. The Selma, California, product led the Aggies in doubles and tied Perez for a team high 16 homers. Dement ranked second among Aggies for slugging percent (.743) and third in total bases (124). Dement slashed .500/.577/1.365 in seven postseason games, leading A&M with five home runs, four doubles and a 1.941 OPS. Dement propelled A&M to its first SEC Tournament title game with a two-run homer and three-run dinger against Texas in the semifinal.
Sauni, recruited out of Arizona, was tabbed a 4-star prospect by On3/Softball, ranking No. 25 in the nation and No. 5 catcher nationally. She was the No. 2 overall catcher in Arizona's 2025 class, earning District Offensive Player of the Year in 2024, batting a .446 with 11 homers, 13 doubles and two triples as a junior.
Texas A&M hosts the Aggie Classic to open the 2026 season Feb. 5 against ACU at 4:30 p.m. and Utah State at 7:00 p.m. at Davis Diamond.
