BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M softball standouts Mya Perez and KK Dement were recognized by D1 Softball as Preseason All-Americans, the organization announced Wednesday. Perez earned first team honors, while Dement was selected to the second team.
Perez returns for her junior season following one of the most productive campaigns in program history. The Corona, California, native earned Second Team All-America honors in 2025, along with NFCA All-Region Second Team and All-SEC First Team recognition. She played a central role in Texas A&M's rise to the first No. 1 national ranking in program history and broke a 43-year-old school record with 73 RBI.
Starting all 59 games, Perez finished the season batting .424 with a .804 slugging percentage, which ranks sixth all time in a single season at Texas A&M. She was the only Aggie to collect multiple SEC weekly honors and ranked among the league leaders in conference play, finishing second in on-base percentage (.541), fifth in batting average (.393) and seventh in slugging percentage (.721). Against ranked opponents, Perez hit .400 with seven home runs, six doubles and 28 RBI.
Her impact continued into the postseason, where she totaled two hits, five RBI and one home run during the SEC Tournament to help the Aggies secure their first conference title. Away from the field, Perez earned Academic All-America honors, becoming the fourth student-athlete in program history to receive the distinction and the first since 2008.
Dement made an immediate impression in her freshman season, earning D1 Softball All-America Freshman First Team honors, NFCA All-Region First Team recognition and SEC All-Tournament Team accolades. The Selma, California, product started 58 games and set program freshman records with 18 doubles and 64 RBI, the latter ranking fourth in single-season history at Texas A&M.
Dement led the Aggies in doubles and tied Perez for the team lead with 16 home runs. She finished second on the team in slugging percentage (.743) and third in total bases with 124. Her postseason performance was among the best in the country, as she hit .500 with a .577 on-base percentage and a 1.365 slugging percentage over seven games, leading the team with five home runs, four doubles and a 1.941 OPS.
Her signature moment came in the SEC Tournament semifinals, when she launched both a two-run and a three-run home run against Texas to propel the Aggies to the program's first SEC Tournament championship game.
Texas A&M opens the 2026 season hosting ACU at 4:30 p.m. and Utah State at 7 p.m. to open the Aggie Classic at Davis Diamond.
