Jan 21, 2026 | Softball
OKLAHOMA CITY – Texas A&M All-American Mya Perez has been named to the Top 50 Watch List for the 2026 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year, the organization announced Wednesday.
Perez enters her junior year after delivering one of the most impactful seasons in Texas A&M history. A native of Corona, California, she collected Second Team All-America honors in 2025 while also earning NFCA All-Region Second Team and All-SEC First Team recognition. Perez ranked No. 9 nationally with a .561 on-base percentage and No. 11 nationally with 73 RBI.
Perez started all 59 games and closed the year with a .424 batting average and a .804 slugging percentage, the latter ranking sixth in single-season history at Texas A&M. She was the lone Aggie to receive multiple SEC weekly awards and finished among the conference's top performers in league play, placing second in on-base percentage (.541), fifth in batting average (.393) and seventh in slugging percentage (.721). Versus ranked opponents, she posted a .400 average with seven home runs, six doubles and 28 RBI.
Her production carried into the postseason, as she recorded two hits, five RBI and one home run at the SEC Tournament to help Texas A&M capture its first conference championship. In the classroom, Perez earned Academic All-America honors, becoming just the fourth student-athlete in program history to do so and the first since 2008.
The Top 25 Finalists for the 2026 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award will be announced on April 29. While an athlete does not have to be on the Watch List to be considered for the Top 25, the eventual USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year will come from the Top 25 Finalists. The Top 10 Finalists will be revealed May 13, with the Top 3 being released May 18. The 2026 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year will be announced prior to the NCAA Women's College World Series (WCWS).
