Jan 05, 2026 | General
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Voice of the Aggies, Andrew Monaco, was recognized as the Texas Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sports Media Association Monday.
In his eighth year in Aggieland, Monaco handles play-by-play duties for Texas A&M football, men's basketball and baseball, while also hosting the football, men's basketball and baseball coaches' radio shows. In addition, he produces a wide variety of content for Texas A&M Athletics, such as his podcast, The Andrew Monaco Show, and Aggies in 60, condensed broadcasts of memorable Texas A&M victories, on the Studio 12 Podcast Network.
With more than three decades of broadcasting experience, Monaco spent 16 years with the NBA's San Antonio Spurs. While there he was part of a broadcast crew that covered two of the Spurs' five NBA titles (2007 and 2014), three Western Conference titles (2007, 2013, and 2014), and seven division titles (2009, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2016, and 2017). Over that span, Monaco developed into a versatile on-air personality while representing one of the most popular brands in professional sports. Not only did Monaco serve as a play-by-play broadcaster for select Spurs telecasts, but he also worked as a studio host for Spurs Live and as a sideline reporter for telecasts.
Monaco also brought extensive experience in play-by-play of college football and basketball to Aggieland, including Power 4 college football telecasts for Fox Sports Net, CBS Sports Network, Versus/NBC Sports Network, Comcast and ESPN.
The National Sports Media Association began in 1959 in North Carolina and is dedicated to developing educational opportunities for individuals interested in pursuing a career in sports media through networking, internships, mentoring and scholarship programs. It continues to work to honor, preserve and celebrate the diverse legacy of sports media in the United States.
