Baseball Holds First Media Availability of Fall

Michael Earley and the Aggies held their first media availability of the Fall in advance of the first exhibition game against Rice--which, in case you missed it, has been moved back one week to October 9.

Earley, new pitching coach Barry Enright and pitcher Clayton Freshcorn visited with the press on Thursday, and you can watch their interviews below. Earley, entering his third season at the helm and coming off a regional final appearance, added Enright to the staff in June. Freshcorn, an All-American who was a 19th-round pick in this Summer's MLB Draft, bypassed the pros to return to Aggieland in 2027.

The thing with Nolan, it wasn't very complex. Nolan and I are super close and have remained super close. It was one of those things where I just felt like I had to ask...Nolan's an awesome coach. Everyone knows Nolan as a recruiter, right? I know Nolan way more than that. That dude knows baseball. He's been around a lot of really good players. He's helped me a ton with stuff on the hitting side in all aspects of the game. So getting him back was multi-level good for us, not just from a recruiting standpoint and an organization standpoint, but from just a pure baseball standpoint. He knows the game as well as anyone I've ever been around.

It's been amazing. People first. We've got the right people in the room. It's an amazing kind of a culture. How the Aggie Network pours into us, from facilities to everything at your disposal from development has been amazing. I think it's been seamless...(Having the) right people in the room, that's what usually drives the bus. People that want to get it right over being right is kind of how I said it. And from everyone that has poured into me, made me feel at home, this has been seamless.

Press Conference: Clayton Freshcorn

He is awesome. He is the man. From the second he got the job, I think he called me three or four times in that week that he got the job, already sending me notes on what we're going to work on, what we're going to get better. And this is, of course, him just trying to entice me to get back...(But) when I had those conversations with him, and the first thing that he said is that he wants to build relationships with every single one of us and build lifelong memories, that's who I want. When we had those conversations, I knew that definitely made the decision easier for sure.
