COLLEGE STATION – The No. 14 Texas A&M volleyball team returns to Reed Arena Friday evening to host Alabama with a first serve set for 6:30 p.m.
The Maroon & White opened SEC play sweeping South Carolina on Sunday, marking their third conference-opening victory under Head Coach Jamie Morrison. A&M posted a season-best .385 hitting percentage in the victory while siding out at 79.2%.
The Aggies’ libero, Gabi Rodriguez, was recognized for her strong start to conference play as she was named SEC Freshman of the Week, becoming the first Aggie to earn the honor since Logan Lednicky in 2022. She amassed 25 digs, nine assists and a 59.1% good pass over the two contests with Rice and the Gamecocks last week.
Texas A&M’s offense was led by sophomore Taryn Morris in its conference opener, as she delivered a pair of career bests with 15 kills and a .682 hitting percentage while recording zero errors. Her .682 clip is the highest percentage recorded by an Aggie with 10-or more kills this season. She was followed by Megan Fitch and Kyndal Stowers with 10 and nine kills, respectively.
Kirra Musgrove directed another efficient performance for the Maroon & White, as she finished the night with 36 assists. The team hit .385 percent as a unit, however they upped that clip from Musgrove’s specific sets terminating at .537 percent. The contest versus South Carolina marks her second-consecutive game with over 12 assists per set.
The Aggies enter Friday’s matchup with a 6-1 record at Reed Arena this season and hold a 16-6 advantage in the all-time series against Alabama, including a 3-0 sweep of the Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa last season.
