COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M freshman defender Ava Sexton earned an invitation to the United States Under-18 and Under-19 National Teams training camp Oct. 3-10 in West Palm Beach.
Sexton is one of just four college players selected for the camp. The entire pool of players is age-eligible for the squad which will work to qualify for the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
The Southlake, Texas, native is one of just three Aggies to start all 11 matches this season. She ranks third on the team with 816 minutes played.
Sexton has played the full 90 in six of the contests, including two SEC matches. She helped Texas A&M record two shutouts on the season. On the offensive end she earned her first career point with an assist against Texas State.
In February, Sexton was invited to a U.S. Youth National Team Talent ID Center evaluation event.
