COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M soccer team played the No. 6 South Carolina Gamecocks to a 0-0 stalemate at Ellis Field.

With the draw, the Aggies (4-9-1, 0-6-1 SEC) earned their first conference point of the campaign. Throughout the match, the Maroon & White controlled the ball in the Gamecocks' half but were unable to produce in front of goal. Texas A&M held a 23-14 advantage in shots, including a 7-5 edge in shots on goal, while winning the corner battle, 8-4.

South Carolina (11-1-2, 5-0-2 SEC) struggled to find its rhythm offensively, but goalkeeper Christina Tsaousis kept the Gamecocks in the contest. The shot-stopper turned away four shots in the opening 45 minutes before adding three more saves in the second half to preserve the clean sheet.

Sydney Fuller anchored the Aggie defense in her first start of the season. Fuller snatched the match from the jaws of defeat with a crucial penalty kick save in the 85th minute after Finley Lacher was whistled for a handball on the goal line. The PK stop locked up the scoreless draw and securing her first clean sheet of the campaign. The Maroon & White mustered their third clean sheet of the season, and first since last year against a ranked opponent.

The match was another in a long line of defensive donnybrooks in the series. Fourteen of the 16 matches have been decided by one goal or less and Thursday’s contest marked the second consecutive 0-0 draw. Neither team has scored more than two goals in a match with Texas A&M now holding a 7-5-4 edge.

Postgame: Bobby Shuttleworth

The biggest thing is the performance. It was very, very good from a physical output standpoint, from our connectedness, how together we were...obviously we got a shutout, which is massive. So I think there's a lot of positives...We fought and battled and we did that for 90 minutes. That was our biggest message, can we have a performance where we're fighting and battling for 90 minutes? And they responded and they did that.

Postgame: Sydney Fuller

(The save) was just so amazing. It's just so great to be back on the field and I'm just so glad I was able to make the most of my opportunity. And I'm thankful that I had God on my side throughout this whole journey...Being able to kind of represent the 12th Man and step up when you're called to step up, that's really just what I wanted to do tonight, and be able to contribute to my team in whatever way that I could.

Postgame: Riley Crooks

I think we really came together. We made it a point to work for each other and do it for the girl next to you. And I think we showed that tonight. We were connected the whole game and we showed all of the fight we could.
