COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Texas A&M cross country teams travel to Columbia, Missouri, for the 2026 SEC Cross Country Championships on Friday, Oct. 30, at Gans Creek Cross Country Course. The women compete in a 6K at 10:08 a.m., followed by the men’s 8K at 10:45 a.m.

“This marks the start of our postseason campaign and an opportunity to showcase all the hard work and dedication the team has put in throughout the season." distance coach Wendel McRaven said. "I’m excited to see what this group can accomplish and how we perform against the SEC.”

The women’s field features 16 teams, with five nationally ranked in the top 30, led by the Florida Gators at No. 4. On the men’s side, 14 teams compete, with four teams ranked in the top 30, including three in the top 10. In the SEC preseason coaches’ poll, the Aggie women were picked to finish 10th, while the men were picked eighth.

Michael Moiben and Jack Johnston lead the Aggie men into postseason competition following a pair of top-10 finishes at the Arturo Barrios Invitational. Moiben made his collegiate cross country debut with a runner-up finish, breaking the Texas A&M 8K school record in 22:51.2. Johnston followed in seventh with a time of 23:09.0. Both athletes have earned SEC Men's Runner of the Week honors this season, with Johnston claiming the award Sept. 8 and Moiben earning recognition Oct. 20.

On the women's side, Debora Cherono and Laney Barnes look to carry their regular season success into the conference championships. Cherono led the Aggies at the Arturo Barrios Invitational, placing 22nd in 19:56.8, while Barnes followed in 25th with a time of 19:59.9. Barnes earned SEC Women's Freshman of the Week honors Sept. 15, helping Texas A&M secure three conference weekly awards in a single cross country season for the first time since 2021.

At last year's SEC Championships in Knoxville, Tennessee, the Aggies secured a pair of sixth-place team finishes, marking the fourth-consecutive season both programs finished inside the conference's top 10. Johnston led the men with a 20th-place finish in 23:52.72, while Cherono placed 17th in the women's race with a time of 20:31.36. Both athletes earned All-SEC Third Team honors for their performances and return looking to build on their conference championship success.

The SEC Championships mark the beginning of postseason competition for the Maroon & White, with Texas A&M set to return to College Station to host the NCAA South Central Regional Championships on Friday, Nov. 13, at Watts Cross Country Course. The Regional Championships serves as an opportunity for the Aggies to compete for qualification to the NCAA Championships, held Saturday, Nov. 21, in Terre Haute, Indiana.
