Women's Basketball Holds First Weekly Press Conference

Head coach Joni Taylor was joined by Chaney Spencer and Pien Steenbergen for the Aggies' first weekly press conference of the 2026-27 season. Texas A&M opens the campaign on Monday night at 7 p.m. against Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

You can watch the interviews below!

Press Conference: Joni Taylor

We're resilient. We're fearless competitors. We've had some players who will be available on Monday but who did not play in our three scrimmages, just to take care of their bodies and injuries that we don't want to get worse before we start playing. So we played our three scrimmages with six scholarship players and two walk-ons, and we just had a really, really good competitive spirit about us...We're excited to have everybody back and healthy, but I learned that we are just where what we want to be in terms of our toughness and our resiliency.

-- Joni Taylor on what she learned from the closed scrimmages

Press Conference: Chaney Spencer, Pien Steenbergen

I think it just gives us more motivation. Last year we were right there, and we knew with some games last year that if we would have won, that we would have been in the tournament. So I think it just puts it into perspective of how much we need to win these non-conference games and get it rolling in SEC.

-- Chaney Spencer on narrowly missing out on the NCAA Tournament in 2026
