COLLEGE STATION – The No. 14 Texas A&M volleyball closes out the weekend hosting Mississippi State Sunday afternoon at Reed Arena with first set for 12 p.m.
The Maroon & White prepare for their third conference matchup and enter the fixture riding a five-game winning streak. A&M secured its ninth win of the season Friday evening as it swept Alabama which also helped them to improve to 2-0 in league play.
Megan Fitch was the standout offensively in win, as she delivered a career-high 14 kills which marked her third-straight game with double digits. The sophomore hit at an efficient clip of .310 percent which is also her third-consecutive outing terminating at over .300 percent.
The trend of fast starts continues to be key for the Maroon & White’s success, as they’re now 9-1 in games where they win the opening set of the game.
Texas A&M’s freshman class continued to show they’re ready to make an impact. Gabi Rodriguez tallied her 12th-straight game with double-digit digs, finishing with a game high 13. Lolufe Adedeji had six kills and five blocks, while Brooke Lacwell recorded her first career kills and block and finished with four of each and a pair of aces in the win.
The Aggies and Bulldogs have met 22 times in their history, with A&M boasting an eight-win advantage in the all-time series, 15-7. When playing in College Station, the Maroon & White win at just over a two-to-one clip, as they’re 9-4 overall at home. Last season the Aggies secured a sweep in Starkville and the last time Mississippi State visited Reed Arena the visitors grabbed a 3-0 win.
