WACO – The Texas A&M women’s tennis team enjoyed another successful day with three singles and two doubles victories in Friday’s action of the H-E-B Invitational at Baylor’s Hurd Tennis Center.
Yoana Konstantinova improved to 8-2 on the season steamrolling Baylor’s Duanrui Gao, 6-2, 6-0. Kori Montoya bested Iowa State’s Stanislava Shulzhenko, 6-2, 6-3 to claim her fourth consecutive win. Sydney Jara went the distance with Iowa State’s Alicia Dale, 2-6, 6-1 (10-0).
The Aggies scored victories in both their doubles matches. Ruby Cooling/Montoya knocked off Rice’s Anushka Ashar/Daniela Chica, 6-1. Jara and Konstantinova teamed up to take down Baylor’s Gao/Villegas, 6-4.
After two days at the tournament, the Aggies are 6-2 in singles action and 4-0 in doubles play.
Cooling suffered Texas A&M’s lone loss of the day. Villegas topped the Aggie freshman, 6-2, 7-5.
