BIRMINGHAM – Texas A&M volleyball’s Kyndal Stowers was named SEC Offensive Player of the Week following her record-breaking performance versus Mississippi State, the league announced Monday afternoon.
Stowers earns her first career SEC weekly award, after breaking the program record for points in a three-set match versus the Bulldogs finishing with 26.5. Her career-best outing helped her down her second program record of the season, as she set the five-set points all-time best with 34.5 versus Indiana earlier in the year.
The Denton, Texas, native spearheaded Texas A&M to its sixth-straight win and fourth-consecutive sweep after downing Mississippi State. The senior recorded her record 26.5 points in the game through 21 kills, a career-high five aces and a block. She shattered the previous all-time best of 25.0 points set by Shelby Sullivan in 2014.
Stowers becomes the ninth Aggie to be named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week and the first since logan Lednicky earned the honor last season.
The Maroon & White return to action this week, as they prepare for two road games, opening up versus Oklahoma on Wednesday at 6 p.m., followed by a Sunday matchup at Arkansas with first serve set for 12 p.m. Both contests will air on the SEC Network.
