Three Aggies to Compete in ITA Texas Regional Championship

WACO – Three Aggies represent Texas A&M women’s tennis team in the ITA Texas Regional Championship at Baylor’s Hurd Tennis Center, Oct. 8-12.

The ITA consists of 13 different regions around the country with each regional featuring 64 players for main draw and qualifiers, with 32 teams for doubles. The two singles finalist and doubles champion from each regional qualify for the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championship held in Athens, Georgia, Nov. 17-22.

Yoana Konstantinova makes her Aggie debut competing Thursday in the singles main draw against Abilene Christian’s Marlie Smith at 11 a.m. A win would put Konstantinova up against either Daniela Chica of Rice or Akari Tomoyose of UTSA.

Freshman duo Kori Montoya and Sydney Jara will compete in the doubles main draw beginning Thursday.

Last season, former Aggie Mia Kupres clinched a spot in the NCAA Singles Championship after winning six straight matches to be crowned the ITA Texas Regional Champion.
