COLLEGE STATION – The Southeastern Conference and Texas A&M proudly announce that Sam Adams will be honored as the Aggies 2026 SEC Football Legend.
One of the best defenders to wear the Maroon and White, Adams was a three-year defensive stalwart for the Aggies 2025 SEC Legend, R.C. Slocum.
Adams, a member of the Aggie defense from 1991 to 1993, was a three-year letterman and three-time All-Southwest Conference pick. He was named the SWC Defensive Newcomer of the Year as a freshman and earned first-team Freshman All-America honors, before later earning consensus All-America honors as a junior.
In his three years in College Station, Adams helped the Aggies to a 30-4-1 record with three consecutive SWC Championships. After a junior season of 78 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, 10.5 sacks and five forced fumbles, Adams was named Sports Illustrated National Defensive Player of the Year, SWC Defensive Player of the Year, and a Lombardi Award finalist.
Following his incredible career, Adams was drafted eighth overall by the Seattle Seahawks in the 1994 NFL Draft. In 14 NFL seasons with the Seahawks, Ravens, Raiders, Bills, Bengals and Broncos, he earned three Pro Bowl appearances and two All-Pro honors and won Super Bowl XXXV with Baltimore.
Adams, who also threw the shot and discus for the track team while at Texas A&M, was inducted into the Texas A&M Athletics Hall of Fame in 2001.
Adams joins an incredibly talented list of SEC Legends from Texas A&M: John David Crow (2012), Dat Nguyen (2013), Jacob Green (2014), Bubba Bean (2015), Ray Mickens (2016), Dave Elmendorf (2017), Pat Thomas (2018), Ed Simonini (2019), Johnny Manziel (2022), Ray Childress (2023), Luke Joeckel (2024), R.C.
