COLLEGE STATION - Texas A&M dropped a 9-5 decision to Rice in Friday’s 14-inning scrimmage from Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.
The Aggies used 15 position players and 14 pitchers. Clayton Freshcorn earned the starting nod, punching out four batters while allowing one run in 2.0 innings of work. Trent Collier, Wade Cooper, Cayden King, Trent Vilade and Hunter Vincent each recorded a scoreless inning, while Jarret Williams struck out the side in the 14th inning.
Texas A&M tallied 10 hits and drew six walks. Nate Savoie and Jorian Wilson each registered an RBI double, while Zane Becker collected an RBI single. Freshman sluggers JD Alexander and Catcher Hopkins each contributed an RBI base hit, while Dylan Schlaegel stood out as the lone Aggie with a multi-hit performance.
The Aggies conclude their fall exhibition slate Friday, Oct. 16 against McNeese. First pitch from Blue Bell Park is slated for 7 p.m.
