FRISCO, Texas – Texas A&M women’s golf head coach Gerrod Chadwell was named to the WGCA National Coach of the Year Watchlist Tuesday.
Chadwell led his team to a No. 12 ranking to wrap up the fall portion of the schedule. The Aggies secured four top-five finishes, including a victory at The Fin. The title at the The Fin was Chadwell’s 13th at Texas A&M which has him tied for second all-time in program history. He is two back of Trelle McCombs’ record of 15.
The El Reno, Oklahoma, native is the reigning WGCA Central Region Coach of the Year after leading the Aggies to a No. 1 seed in last year’s NCAA Regional. Chadwell has led the program to new heights since his appointment in 2021. He has taken the team to three match play appearances at NCAAs and won the 2023 SEC Championship.
At Texas A&M, he has coached five golfers to All-America status, including Vanessa Borovilos who was a WGCA First Team All-American last season and an ANNIKA Award Finalist. In 2024, Chadwell saw Adela Cernousek become the first Individual NCAA Champion in program history when she shot 12-under 276 and won the tournament by three strokes.
Texas A&M returns to the course Jan. 31-Feb. 2 at the Therese Hession Regional Challenge to begin the spring slate.
