COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M men’s basketball team looks to continue rolling at Reed Arena Monday night when it hosts ULM for a 7 p.m. tip on SEC Network+.
The Aggies improved to 2-0 Friday night with a 104-67 win over Northern Kentucky. The victory marked the first time Texas A&M has eclipsed the century mark this season after notching a program-best six 100-point games last year. Graduate transfer Jordan Pope poured in 15-plus points for the second straight game as he led the way with 18, shooting 77.8-percent (7-9) from the field against the Norse.
Texas A&M has been locking down on defense to start the year, keeping each of its opponents under 70 points, while forcing at least 20 turnovers. The Aggies have capitalized on the mistakes, averaging 32.5 points per game off turnovers. The Maroon & White lead the nation in turnover margin (14.0), averaging just 10.0 per game while forcing 24.0, good for second nationally. Texas A&M’s presence in the paint has been felt early as it ranks 10th in blocks (7.5) with senior transfer Cade Phillips holding the No. 11 spot in the country with 3.0 swats per game.
ULM arrives at Reed Arena with a 1-1 record after falling to Central Michigan in its season opener, 83-78, and bouncing back to top Champion Christian, 99-55, Wednesday. The Warhawks are led by Dayjuan Anderson’s 21.5 points, while Quaran McPherson adds 18.5 per game. Ziyade Ndancky leads ULM on the boards, pulling down 7.5 rebounds per game.
