COLUMBIA, Mo. – The No. 17 Texas A&M volleyball team fell in three sets to Missouri Sunday afternoon at the Hearnes Center, 3-0 (20-25, 21-25, 23-25).
Despite late pushed in all-three frames, the Aggies (14-11, 7-6 SEC) dropped a competitive three-set contest versus the Tigers (15-10, 8-5 SEC) in Columbia. Kyndal Stowers paced the offense with 14 kills, while Taryn Morris tacked on 12. Gabi Rodriguez dug up 11 swings to mark her 21st game with 10-or-more.
The hosts were hot out of the gate, winning the race to double digits, 10-5. Needing a spark, the Aggies found it from serving stints from Margot Manning and Megan Fitch as the duo shrunk the gap to two, 13-11. Missouri recaptured its rhythm to take the opener, 25-20.
The Tigers once again were the aggressor, leading throughout the second set to the media timeout, 15-11. The four-point gap held (19-15), until Manning again led the charge from the service line helping rip off three straight that had Missouri calling timeout, 19-18. In similar fashion to the first, the Tigers went on a run late to take the set, 25-21.
A&M responded early in the third, 8-5, before Missouri settled back in and knotted the game up entering the red zone (20-20). A two-point Tiger strike was met right back from the Maroon & White to find level again at 22. Back-to-back points from Missouri had the Aggies calling timeout, and after defending one match point, Missouri was able to seal the set, 25-23, and match, 3-0.
