BIRMINGHAM – The Texas A&M track & field team swept the women's SEC weekly awards as Camryn Dickson, Sofia Yakushina and Lily Carlson were named Runner of the Week, Field Athlete of the Week and Freshman of the Week, respectively, the league announced Tuesday.
Dickson set the track ablaze in the 200m, crossing the line in a personal-best time of 22.62 to secure her second individual win of the season. The senior's mark moved her up from No. 4 to No. 2 Texas A&M's all-time performers list and ranks second in the nation this year.
The reigning SEC pentathlon champion, Yakushina, kept up her winning ways in her first mutli of the year, as she won the Charlie Thomas Invitational with 4,336 points. The sophomore's total leads the conference and ranks third in the nation.
Carlson captured the second Freshman of the Week award of her debut campaign after breaking her own pole vault school record. The York Springs, Pennsylvania, native cleared 4.47m/14-8 which ranks No. 1 in the country among freshman, while also tying for second in the SEC and stands at No. 10 nationally.
The Aggies head out on the road for a split weekend of action at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational in Albuquerque and the David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston.
