Sims Shines, No. 25 Baseball Completes Sweep of Tennessee Tech, 7-1

BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – No. 25 Texas A&M concluded Opening Weekend Sunday with a sweep of Tennessee Tech, 7-1, from Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.
The win marks the fifth consecutive Opening Weekend sweep for the Aggies (3-0) and their 16th in the last 18 seasons.
Aiden Sims earned the win in the first weekend start of his career. The Forney, Texas, native worked a career high 6.0 innings, allowing just one run on one hit and registered a career-best seven strikeouts. Clayton Freshcorn locked down the last three frames to earn his first save of the season, punching out four batters and allowing just two hits and no runs.
Caden Sorrell and Wesley Jordan continued their respective Opening Weekend offensive tears. Sorrell logged four hits, matching a career high. The junior added one RBI and scored one run himself. Jordan's monster week continued as the Aggies' designated hitter posted three hits to go along with two RBI and one run. After three games, Jordan is 7-for-9
(.778) at the plate with seven runs, four RBI and five walks.
Zane Becker, Jake Duer and Boston Kellner each recorded a hit and an RBI to add to the Maroon & White advantage.

B6 | With two outs, Sorrell reached on an infield single and touched the plate on a double from Jordan. Duer followed with a single up the middle to bring Jordan home. A&M 7, Tennessee Tech 1.
