Feb 16, 2026 | Baseball
BIRMINGHAM – Texas A&M outfielder Caden Sorrell earned SEC Player of the Week recognition, as announced by the league office Monday afternoon.
The weekly honor marks the first of the junior's career and the first by an Aggie this season.
In 15 at-bats over the weekend, Sorrell registered nine hits, three home runs, 10 RBI and seven runs scored. He slugged multiple hits in all three contests, including a two-homer game on Opening Day and a four-hit performance Sunday. All three of his round-trippers cleared over 420 feet. His first home run on Opening Day covered 445 feet to center field. The Highland Village, Texas, native drove in five RBI Friday and followed with four more Saturday. Sorrell added one walk and two stolen bases to his weekend stat totals and made an incredible diving catch in the eighth inning of Sunday's finale.
After the first three games of 2026, Sorrell boasts a .600 batting average, .625 on-base percentage and 1.200 slugging percentage.
No. 24 Texas A&M continues an eight-game homestand Tuesday, Feb. 17, at 6 p.m. for a midweek matchup against A&M-Corpus Christi.
