Eleven Aggies Advance to Finals on Day 3 at SEC Championships

KNOXVILLE – The Texas A&M swimming & diving teams combined to advance 11 competitors to finals on the third day of the 2026 SEC Swimming & Diving Championships on Wednesday at the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center on the University of Tennessee campus.
A trio of Aggies earned spots in a Championship final - fifth-year senior Kaitlyn Owens placed eighth in the women's 100-yard backstroke in a time of 51.99; junior transfer Ava Whitaker took eighth in the women's 200 butterfly in 1:56.80; and sophomore Ella McQuinn finished eighth in 1:00.29.
Earlier in the day, McQuinn earned her way into the "A" final by out-dueling Auburn's Annika Finzen with a time of 59.84 in a swim-off after the two swimmers had tied for eighth place in the prelims with identical 1:00.01 clockings.
Junior Logan Brown and fifth-year senior Munzy Kabbara advanced to consolation swimming finals. Brown turned in a lifetime-best effort in the men's 100 breaststroke with a time of 51.81 to place third in the "B" final (11th overall). Brown's time pushed him to No. 4 on the school's all-time top 10 list in the race. Kabbara placed sixth in the 200 butterfly (14th overall) with a time of 1:43.29.
Five more Aggies – senior Lane White, juniors Will Heck and Katie Walker, and freshmen AJ Robinson and Alejandro Michelena -- qualified for bonus finals. Walker was third in the women's 200 fly "C" final (19th overall) in a time of 1:58.31; Michelena won the men's 200 fly with a time of 1:42.75 (17th), while Robinson was third (19th) in 1:43.03; White tied for second in the 100 breast "C" (18th) with a season-best 52.62 while Heck was fourth (20th) in 52.70. Robinson had a pair of huge lifetime bests on the day as he took nearly four seconds off his seed time entering SECs. He debuted on the Aggies' 200 fly top 10 list at No. 8.
The Maroon & White dive crew scored valuable points in the men's 1-meter springboard as freshman Emilio Trevino placed 15th with a 330.55 point total and sophomore Charles Reuter finished 24th with a score of 295.15.
In the team standings, the Aggie women are in eighth place with 211 points and the men are in 10th with 159.5.
