Nine Aggies Advance to Finals on Day Four at SEC Championships

KNOXVILLE – The Texas A&M swimming & diving teams combined to advance nine competitors to finals on day four of the 2026 SEC Swimming & Diving Championships on Thursday at the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center on the University of Tennessee campus.
Junior transfer Ava Whitaker got the evening session started with a victory in the consolation final of the women's 100 butterfly. Whitaker, from Nacogdoches, Texas via Indiana University, cruised to the win in 52.11 after logging her lifetime best of 52.06 in the prelims. The time moved her to No. 9 on the school's 100 fly all-time top 10 list. Also in the 100 fly consols, freshman Eloise Williamson placed eighth (16th overall) with a time of 52.94 after logging a lifetime best of 52.66 in the prelims.
Junior Hannah O'Leary shined in the women's 400 IM, touching first in the bonus final (17th overall) in a lifetime best 4:11.78 clocking, which was well under the NCAA qualifying standard of 4:13.20. Senior Giulia Goerigk added a 15th place effort in 4:14.45.
The Aggie men picked up 43 points in the 400 IM with fifth-year senior Munzy Kabbara leading the way with an eighth-place finish in 3:44.87. Kabbara logged a season-best 3:42.14 in the morning prelims. Freshman AJ Robinson placed 15th in 3:44.21 and senior Max Vega Cuevas touched first in the bonus final (17th overall) in a season-best 3:46.71.
The Aggies' dive crew combined to tally 21 points with sophomore Bridget Foster leading the way with a sixth-place finish in the consolation final (14th overall) with a score of 274.50. Sophomore transfer Gabby Filzen chipped in an 18th place finish (269.15 points) and sophomore Julie Moons was 24th (257.75).
Sophomore Ella McQuinn earned an NCAA qualifying cut with a lifetime-best time of 1:45.50 in a runner-up effort in the bonus final of the women's 200 freestyle.
Texas A&M closed out the night in the 400 medley relay. The Aggie women placed ninth in the 400 medley relay with the foursome of senior Kaitlyn Owens, McQuinn, Whitaker and freshman Reagan Sherrard finishing in 3:34.40, while the men's quartet of freshman John Simmons, junior Will Heck, freshman Alejandro Michelena and junior Ben Scholl placed 11th with a season-best 3:07.99.
After four days of competition, the Aggie women stand ninth in the team race with 325 points while the men are in 10th with 234.5.
