Track & Field Set to Host SEC Indoor Championships
Feb 24, 2026 | Track and Field
BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Texas A&M track & field team opens its postseason campaign at home as it hosts the SEC Indoor Championships for the second-straight year at the R.A. 'Murray' Fasken '38 Indoor Track & Field facility, Feb. 26-28.
The Aggies gear up for postseason action, where the men's team looks to defend its title from the 2025 season. The Aggies men accumulated 107.5 points in last year's championship, spearheaded by nine medals which included five gold, three silver and one bronze. On the women's side, they secured a fifth-place finish as a group tacking on 47.33 points. The team captured four medals headlined by one gold, two silver and one bronze.
Regular-Season Wrap Up
The Maroon & White enter the postseason following a successful regular season which included six new school records. Henry Zimmerman broke the men's weight throw program best every time he entered the ring, culminating in five program bests that peaked at a toss of 22.96m/75-4. Standout freshman, Lily Carlson, cleared the competition at the top of the pole vault standings, downing the previous record twice and the best now stands at a mark of 4.47m/14-8. Auhmad Robinson set the track ablaze in the 200m, crossing the line in 20.33. Peter Narumbe toppled the 1,000m Aggie best with a time of 2:19.88, while Debora Cherono took down both the women's mile (4:36.34) and 3,000m (9:02.81).
Production was consistent throughout the opening of the indoor season as the Aggies won 60 events across the seven weekends of competition which included 41 victories on their home track. The all-time performers list also saw plenty of movement, as 49 performances either debuted an athlete in the record books or moved them up the standings.
Texas A&M athletes were rewarded for their performances by the league office, as they captured 10 SEC weekly awards throughout the campaign. Carlson earned three nods from the conference office, while Lawson Jacobs, Ja'Qualon Scott, Narumbe, Camryn Dickson, Sofia Yakushina, Zimmerman and Machaeda Linton each earned one.
Returning Medalists
The Aggies returned plenty of production and experience from last year's teams, as the men bring back SEC gold medalists Auhmad Robinson (400m), Blake Harris (heptathlon), Kimar Farquharson (4x400m) and silver medalist Scott (60m hurdles). The women return two silver medalists in Yakushina (pentathlon) and Dickson (200m), while bronze medalist Jaiya Covington (60m hurdles) rounds out the group.
